Translating Pages for Altruists International

The first step to translating pages is to become a member. You can then apply to manage a language. As a language manager, you can use the process below to submit page translations. It needs a program to edit HTML, such as one of the following:

	Araneae	Free, Easy, Helpful Syntax coloring
	Notepad, Wordpad	Simple, Comes with Windows
	Front Page, MS Word	Commercial, makes ugly HTML, but easy to use

1. Choose a page to translate and save the original version to your computer. (Use File/Save from your web browser).

2. Translate the body of the page, including any text in the images. (Only translate the middle bit, not the menus of side bars).

3. Save it as an HTML file on your computer. (Use File/Save from your editor).

4. Login to www.altruists.org and browse to the original page.

5. Click on the 'Translate »' link and input the Page Details into the fields shown: a. Title - This appears at the top of the page, below the flags b. Short Title - This appears on the right hand side, in the list of 'most Popular Pages'.     (Usually less than 18 characters). c. Long Title - This will appear at the top in the title bar.     (Remember to include keywords for search engines). d. Click on and locate the file which you saved in step 2.

6. Click to see how the translated page would look. Check it carefully for errors. If you see any mistakes, change your translation and go to step 4. If it looks good, click the button at the bottom of the page to publish it on the website.
